1. Who We Are

Qrato ("we", "us", or "our") is an AI-powered content recommendation application available on Android. We operate the app and its associated backend services. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at admin@qrato.net.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

• Google account data — when you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from your Google account.
• Feedback messages — if you submit a feedback form, we collect the text of your message and, optionally, your name and email address.

2.2 Usage Data We Collect Automatically

• Watchlist and history — titles you save, mark as viewed, or like/dislike.
• Recommendation interactions — which recommendations you dismiss or engage with, to avoid showing you the same content again.
• Filter and mood preferences — genre, era, and mood selections you make within the app.
• Device identifiers — a random guest identifier stored locally on your device if you use the app without signing in.

2.3 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, camera data, microphone data, payment information, or any sensitive personal data beyond what is listed above.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and improve the recommendation engine — including personalising suggestions based on your history and interactions.
• Sync your watchlist and history across your devices when you are signed in.
• Respond to feedback and support requests.
• Detect and prevent abuse or misuse of the service.
• Monitor aggregate usage patterns to improve app performance and content coverage.

We do not use your data for targeted advertising, nor do we build advertising profiles.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share your data only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers — we use trusted infrastructure providers (listed in Section 5) to store and process data on our behalf. They are contractually bound to use your data solely to provide their services to us.
• Legal requirements — if required by applicable law, court order, or governmental authority, we may disclose information to comply with legal obligations.
• Business transfers — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in a prominent manner.

5. Third-Party Services

Qrato uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

Supabase

We use Supabase as our backend database and authentication provider. Your account data, watchlist, and history are stored in Supabase. Data is hosted on AWS infrastructure.

Cloudflare

API requests are routed through Cloudflare Workers and the app's landing page is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may log request metadata (IP address, timestamp, request path) for security and performance purposes.

Google Sign-In

Authentication is handled via Google OAuth. When you sign in, Google shares your name, email, and profile picture with us. For Google's data practices, see Google's privacy policy.

Google AdMob

The app may display advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use device advertising identifiers and usage data to serve contextual or interest-based ads in accordance with Google's advertising policies. You can opt out of personalised ads in your device's settings.

Wikipedia

Qrato may show links to Wikipedia articles related to recommended titles. When you open one of those links, you leave Qrato and visit Wikipedia, which is operated by the Wikimedia Foundation and governed by its own terms and privacy policy. Qrato is not affiliated with the Wikimedia Foundation.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data and watchlist for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data from our systems within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes.

Guest data stored locally on your device (without an account) remains only on your device and is deleted when you clear the app's data or uninstall the app.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Correction — request that we correct inaccurate data.
• Deletion — request that we delete your personal data (right to erasure). You can initiate this by contacting us at admin@qrato.net or using the "Delete Account" option within the app.
• Portability — request your data in a portable format.
• Opt out of personalised ads — adjust your device's ad personalisation settings.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at admin@qrato.net. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

Qrato is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at admin@qrato.net.

9. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but commit to notifying affected users of any breach in accordance with applicable law.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will provide additional notice (such as an in-app notification). Your continued use of Qrato after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
